Allison part 2: Amalfi Coast

We arrived in Sorrento early evening and had dinner at our hotel's terrace overlooking the sunset and ocean.

Longest day of the year...
Pictures don't do it justice!
Breakfast our first morning! Loving the view!!
Not loving the fact I STILL can't figure out how to order a latte in Italy.
We headed straight out to the beach - here is the view as we walked down the cliff to our beach
Our jetty / beach location for the day
It's just beautiful. And such a unique beach look!
Allison settling in... and I quote: "I can't remember the last time I've been this happy." Yeah, me neither!
Perfect backdrop for utter relaxation, with the sound of the ocean crashing on those rocks
Getting in for a little swim
Took this on the hike back up - love Italian beach umbrellas
On our way into town for a gelato break... came across these huge lemons. They were enormous!
Happy happy happy with mint gelato in hand!
Another shot of the lemons in town. Gigantic! The Amalfi coast is the home of limoncello - hence the lemon overload!
Dinner that night at this precious little restaurant with this quaint little outside terrace.
Thrilled at her gluten free pasta dish... impossible to find in Europe!
The next day was my 30th birthday! We headed to Capri for the day, which is a little island off the coast. Arriving at the port!
The Blue Grotto was closed due to rough seas, so we hired a private boat to take us to other caves that have similar colored water... I'm pretty excited here pre-boarding!
Capri was full of HOARDS of people and tourists - loving having this boat to ourselves!
 Yay
Yep. Ridiculously beautiful water - no filter!

About to enter this cave!
Inside... the water was glowing blue!

Pictures don't capture the amazing blue-ness of the water!
Our boat driver pulled into a cove and told us to jump in!
Ahhhhhhh - floating in the middle of the Mediterranean! Highlight of the day for sure.
Heading back to the port after swimming
The driver let me drive!
We drove through that little keyhole!
Back at Capri, we had to take a bus to Anacapri... Italian public transport at its best.
We got a restaurant recommendation from a little art shop owner we had bought paintings from earlier that morning - when we got there for lunch the owner escorted us up to their private dining room at the top of their building!
After lunch, we took the chairlift up to the top of the island!
Love this picture of Allison! You can see Mount Vesuvius at the very far left.
Views from the top!
We were literally IN the clouds. Allison posing in front of Mount Vesuvius.
That cove below is where we were swimming earlier that morning!
Another pic with the famous Capri backdrop!
Back in Sorrento later that afternoon, we went back to the beach for a quick swim before dinner.
Photo shoot with the Sorrrento coastline before dinner!

Selfie
Timer!
We went back to the same restaurant we went to the night before - that lemon pasta dish was to die for!
The restaurant owners found out it was my birthday so they handpicked a little bouquet of  roses - ha!
Leaving our Sorrento hotel the next morning...
Ugh. The line for the bus was so long we had to wait for multiple buses. In the 97 degree heat.
Hot and car sick. The roads are the most windy twindy roads in the world, with cliff drop offs on either side!
Upon arrival in Positano... walking to our hotel as there are NO taxis (there are hardly any roads for taxis to drive on!)
Beautiful views once we got to our hotel!
Taking in the views and re-feuling before heading into town for a boat ride to Amalfi.
Loving Positano's views!
We took the hotel shuttle into town... walking through the street of Positano on our way to the port. So picturesque!
Down by the water!
Positano
Positano from the water - such its own unique look!
Beautiful views on our way to Amalfi!

Arriving in Amalfi...
Walking the streets - it was tiny!
In front of the local cathedral
This was the most needed gelato of the trip! Such an exhausting day.
Yeah, exhausted. Too much travel this particular day!
Back on the boat heading back to Positano

Arrival back in Positano
We found this amazing artist on the beach and bought 2 paintings from him! He was adorable.
Allison enjoying a random outdoor art gallery we stumbled upon
Breakfast the next morning - quite the view!
It was our last day, and we decided to spend the whole day relaxing at our hotel's beach. We had to take a funicular (and 3 separate lifts) down to the beach because the cliffs are so steep!
Our destination for the day... no filter.
SO EXCITED upon arrival :)
Exploring some of the nearby cliffs
The beach was deserted for the first few hours so we set up a timer to get both of us in a shot!
The aftermath of getting burnt to a crisp the first day haha.
Excited to go swimming in the crystal blue water!
Sooooo chilly right when you get in
Two of my favorite pictures of the trip:

Right before heading to dinner our last night...
SO BEAUTIFUL!
Quintessential Positano behind us
The restaurant was a complete bust. Allison's "lemon steak" left much to be desired.
The owner was so sweet and brought us complimentary limoncello and strawberry custard - SICK! But we had to eat and drink it!!!
The next morning on the way to the airport! So sad to be leaving, but ecstatic to NOT be in a bus!
So our 2013 sister trip is in the books! It goes without saying, but it's going to be a nearly impossible one to beat!!
