Isle of Wight

Yesterday we ventured to the Isle of Wight with Perfect Mom and Mr. Crawford who have been here visiting for the past 10 days...

On the train bright and early. Little did we know here that we had 767 legs of the journey ahead of us. I should have known when all of the Londoners who heard I was going looked shocked when I told them we weren't staying the night.

High speed ferry... still smiling as it was only the 5th leg.

4 hours into the trip, 6th bus of the morning, still not there.... OVER IT! But really, Chels was just mad that the travel research her mom did before (that we didn't follow) was right and her route (which we took) was wrong. Hahaha.

Finally made it to the Osbourne House - Victoria and Albert's vacation home. Yay!!

This place was SO COOL! Absolutely loved it... best day trip by far since coming to London.

Coming out of the 90 minute tour of the inside... Perfect Mom looking perfect, as usual.
The "extensive grounds"... Kates and Al, name the movie :)
Chels caught up in the windstorm...

Ummmm... yeah. Gorgeous.
The classic group shot taken by some foreigner that has no concept of centering and sacrifices the top of the building to capture 5 inches of ground in front of our feet.

Most delicious lunch of my life!
Wheelbarrows for each of Victoria and Albert's 9 children... each with their initials.
Albert built this Swiss cottage on the grounds to teach the kids how to cook and clean and do chores.

Behind them is a fort built for the kids to play "war"... complete with ditches and barracks.
This thing was hilarious... apparently showing any sort of flesh was unacceptable so when Queen Victoria wanted to go swimming in the ocean, she used that green house to get in the water without anyone seeing her.
On our way home, we took a little boat across this canal (footbridge was broken).
Waiting for the boat (645th leg)...
Excited to be one step closer to London!
Walking through some random town after the canal boat ride on the way to the ferry back to the mainland.
Finally located the Red Funnel ferry... exhausted at this point!
But all was well when Perfect Mom busted out the scones and jam for the train ride back to London!!!
At the end of the day, the 8 hours of travel to get there and back was so worth it. I'm so glad we went and I will tell anyone who comes to visit us in the future to go as well (but will take the advice of the locals and suggest they stay overnight)!
